As a supplement to their regular science instruction, students spend time in the kitchen learning about the scientific principles involved in preparing various dishes. For instance, as students learn to make homemade soup, salads, appetizers, baked goods and other dishes, they learn about mixtures and solutions, heat transfer, energy conversions, chemical changes and nutrition.
Students also learn to:
follow health and safety procedures
operate kitchen utensils and appliances
properly
follow recipes
successfully interact with co-workersÂ
