Assessment and Consultation
Parents meet with our education director to share
information and review previous evaluations the
child may have received from other healthcare or
educational providers. If we determine that we can
help, the education director works individually
with the child to determine the starting points
of a customized instructional program.
The education director determines the child’s
current skills in these key areas of development:

- handwriting

the senses for use

- deep pressure touch (proprioceptive)
- light touch (tactile)

motor task

sentences
- using language to express needs and wants
Regulating behavior

wants

and directions
Educational readiness

spelling

After the evaluation, the director meets with the
parents to discuss the results and develop an effective
instructional program. If the child attends a preschool
in addition to our morning tutorial program, the
director or the student's teacher at The Cyzner Institute may also
communicate with the school staff to coordinate
plans among the parents, school and The Cyzner Institute .
If another professional has recently administered
a diagnostic evaluation, we use the findings of
that evaluation and the results of a brief assessment
to design the child’s training goals. |
