Whether visits are once a week or every day, children
work consistently on the goals of their customized
instructional program. This is accomplished with
a one-to-one teacher-student ratio or within small
groups, depending on the child’s needs.
Teachers keep daily records of progress in each
skill. Frequent parent conferences are scheduled
to share information and answer questions. Assessment
in every case is ongoing, and we regularly adjust
each instructional program to meet your child’s
changing developmental needs.
Ongoing Parent and School Consultation
Our teaching staff reviews each child’s progress
with parents before or after lessons. With the parents’
permission, they also contact teachers of children
who attend preschool. These frequent communications
allow us to evaluate the effectiveness of the instructional
program. The program is regularly assessed and updated
as needed.
During the first month of a student's instruction,
parents meet frequently with their child's teacher
or another staff member to discuss how they can
facilitate skill development at home. During this
time, the teacher demonstrates ways for parents
to:
- reinforce the instruction the teacher
does with the child
- communicate effectively with professionals
at their child’s preschool
- manage the stress often associated with
handling their child's developmental needs
